Top 10 Things To Do In Hemel Hempstead

If you’re looking for things to do in Hemel Hempstead, the main thing to bear in mind is that you’ll be spoilt for choice! Whether you’re looking for a party venue, a sports bar, bar games, poker, karaoke, bottomless brunch, a kid’s party venue or somewhere that does fun work events, you’ll find something that suits you.

1. Bar games

You’d be surprised by how much fun you can have with bar games in Hemel. Get a group of your friends together and start a friendly competition. Cloud 9 at Jarman Park has a number of bar games, and they’re not necessarily what you’d expect.

  • Interactive Darts – it’s like darts, but it does the hard work for you. Also known as ‘smart darts’, the board is hooked up to a computer that keeps the score and will display it on screen. No more sums to do – always a good thing after a couple of beers!
  • Shuffleboard – this pub game of yore is making a comeback and it’s easy to see why. Like darts, it’s a game involving dexterity and skill, but the rules are simple, it’s easy to score, and it can be fast moving.
  • Pool – this is exactly what you’d expect for bar games, but there’s a reason why pool has such an enduring appeal.

What’s more, Wednesday nights are Games Nights, where everything’s half price!

2. Ice skating

A favourite with adults and children alike, you can get your skates on at Planet Ice in Hemel’s Jarman Park is a great place to spend a couple of hours, whether you’re an experienced skater or a complete beginner. It’s a popular venue for birthday party events too.

3. Climbing walls

If you feel like you’re metaphorically climbing the walls at home, visit The XC and do the real thing instead! It’s great exercise and a wonderful way to challenge yourself and your abilities. Great for anyone from the age of 7 upwards. Find out if it’s the right activity for you with a taster session.

4. A night at the movies

Despite the ease of streaming movies at home, a trip to the cinema is still one of the top activities people like to do. Cineworld shows all the latest movies in 2D and 3D, with the world’s first Screen X, a 270° projection screen that makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action. Meet up with friends before or after the movie for something to eat at one of the Jarman Park restaurants – perhaps a burger at Five Guys, pub grub at Pommel Horse, or a cheeky Nando’s

5. Bottomless Dinner and Karaoke

Everyone loves a ‘bottomless’ dinner party with friends and everyone loves karaoke, so the two have become one on our Top 10 list! Our Bottomless Dinner runs from 7-9pm and includes a main course from our usual menu, and all you can drink (prosecco, beer, wine and spirits), plus a special cocktail for the first 50 people booked in – click here for the booking information). Then it’s time to warm up the vocal cords when the karaoke begins at 9pm.

6. Inflatable Park

If you think Total Wipeout or Gladiators looks easy, then put your money where your mouth is at the Cloud 9 Xtreme Airpark. Our Extreme Airpark is a thrill seeker’s dream, great fun and more physically demanding than you’d imagine. Each inflatable has lots of space so you can fling yourself around the course and challenge your mates. It’s open to kids and big kids every day, but between 7pm and 8pm, it’s adults only.

7. Become a petrol head

Ever dreamt of driving a Formula 1 car or tried your hand at stunt driving? Just outside Hemel Hempstead, Drift Limits provides the opportunity to put the pedal to the metal and experience what it’s like to drive over the speed limit. The doughnuts at this place have nothing to do with Bake Off!

8. Gadebridge Park

Not all activity needs to be high-fuelled adrenalin. Gadebridge Park in the north of Hemel provides the town with greenery, gardens and the opportunity to walk, keep fit, or just be. It has an outdoor gym, skate park, a children’s play area, and splash park, but if that’s too noisy, take in the relaxed atmosphere of the walled garden, or go for a lovely walk along the river.

9. Skiing and Snowboarding

If it’s simply too hot outside for you, then retreat back into winter minus temperatures at the Snow Centre. The centre offers skiing and snowboarding, including lessons for all ages. There are also freestyling nights and ringo slides.
